New OnLine Banking Security Procedures 

 

First State Bank has implemented a new security feature for Internet banking to help reduce fraud and identity theft.  In addition to your secure password, we have added an additional layer of security that verifies your identity in two ways using a private image and pass phrase.  

 

Just follow these easy steps for your safe, secure access to your accounts anytime, anywhere! 

(1) Apply OnLine using either the Personal or Commercial Enrollment 

(2) Your "Welcome Letter" will provide your temporary password and instructions for your initial login 

(3) You will be prompted to choose a new password and complete 2 password help Q&A 

(4) Follow the easy instructions for the "Security Enrollment" 

     Part One - Your Image and Phrase  

       *  You will see an 'Authentication Image' randomly assigned to you. 

       *  You will be prompted to enter an 'Authentication Phrase' which is in relation to the image you were given. 

    Part Two - Your Challenge Questions and Answers 

       *  You will be prompted to select 3 different challenge questions from a list provided AND supply the answers. 

       *  You will have the option to register your computer. The two options are 'Personal Computer-Register It' or  

            'Public Computer-Do Not Register It'.  Only register personal computers that you frequently use and are not available for  

             public use. 

 

Use only letters or numbers. DO NOT enter ANY special characters, including a period, comma, dash, etc, or the information on your screen will be cleared and your enrollment process will not be complete. 

 

On each subsequent login from a registered computer you will enter your User ID on the first screen. The second screen will show your image, authentication phrase and only require you to enter your password.  Registered computers will not display a challenge question unless the session cookies have been deleted.  You can register more than 1 computer.  More than 1 user can register on the same computer. 

 

If you login on a non-registered computer, the second screen will prompt you to answer one of the challenge questions you chose during the "Security Enrollment" process above, in addition to entering your password. If you fail to answer the challenge question(s) after 5 attempts, you will be locked out and it will be necessary to contact the bank.  

 

If you wish to change your image and/or challenge questions and answers at any time, simply go to Services>Security Maintenance and make your changes there. The next time you login OnLine Banking, you will see the new image and phrase.
