Welcome to Nora Springs
Nora Springs is a community of approximately 1350 people located in Floyd County 8 miles east of Mason City on the former Highway 18, just 2 miles north of the "Avenue of the Saints".

The Nora Springs-Rock Falls Community School District includes the Wee Care Nursery School and day-care facilities in addition to grades K-12.  High School students also have the availability to participate in the Tech Prep program offered by North Iowa Community College, located only 8 miles away. A variety of school sponsored activities offer academic, athletic, drama and musical opportunities throughout the entire year.

Many options are available for reduced income and elderly housing.  Maple View Manor, with 2 locations, provides both 1 and 2 bedroom apartments which qualify for government subsidy.  Summit Heights offers 8 assisted living apartments for persons needing additional care and is a subsidiary of the Nora Springs Care Center. Local health care also includes Faith Family Health Clinic, Dr. Pat Ryal M.D, and Dr. Kris Kelley DDS.

Not only does our main street host a variety of local businesses, many which offer beautiful and unique window displays, there are several other businesses located around town and in the community.  We have flower and gift shops, a coffee house and restaurants, insurance and real estate agencies, beauticians, a massage therapist, photography studio, sign shop, travel agency, hardware store, convenience store and car wash, several auto repairs and a trailer sales, plus a wide variety of local contractors.  Stop by to visit; the owners will be happy to welcome you.

Our police department, with a staff of 3 full-time officers, provides 24-hour service.  The Nora Springs Volunteer Fire Department and the Nora Springs Volunteer Ambulance are committed to serving the community. Other service groups include the Nora Springs Historical Society, Kiwanis, American Legion, American Legion Auxiliary, Nora Springs Community Foundation, as well as numerous scouting and 4-H clubs.

The City Hall, Nora Springs Public Library and Community Room provide a variety of services and programs for people of all ages. A variety of recreational opportunities included the city swimming pool, West Hills Golf Course, 4 city parks, and the near-by Green Belt trail and park.  Boulder Park hosts the annual Buffalo Days meal and activities. The local buffalo herd can be seen while crossing the bridge on Highway 18.

Local churches include the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), St. Luke Lutheran Church (ELCA), First United Methodist Church and the Remnant Seventh Day Adventist Church. The Catholic Community Center facility is available to rent for meetings or other events.

The efforts of the Nora Springs Community Foundation's fundraising enabled the construction of the welcome sign pictured above.  Leo Jost skillfully constructed the sign of limestone. The two arches on the base replicate the historic bridge located on "Old Highway 18".
